IDP Camp pictures...

Hello all...we have been super busy as we wrap our trip up and I probably won't have a chance to post another videolog, but I will post some pictures.  Yesterday we visited an IDP camp (Internally Displaced People) situated in the national forest area in the mountains.  These people were either ran out of their homes or their homes were destroyed during the recent conflict over the elections.  These people have nothing, but a small house and the food that the government provides them (which really isn't that much).  They are not allowed to create gardens or try to grow their own food, only to build their small shelter and some outhouses.  We brought some food, but gave it to their "elder" to divide up due to the amount of people there, they can't give food to some and not to others.  It was very eye opening and you realize how much you have to be thankful for.  Here are a few pictures:

The only source of income they have is to cut wood from the forest and sell it in Nairobi.  The bundles of wood weigh between 40 - 60 pounds and they carry them on their backs very long distances.

Here are their homes, made of mostly of bamboo and twigs...it was a lot to take in...

Some more pictures!

While we are here we are taking pictures of the kids for their sponsors, (of course we are taking a lot of general pictures as well!!!)  Here are some pictures for all of you:

Some of the community children after church

Two girls walking home after church

This is Martha, one of Seth's favorites as you see in the picture below:

This next picture has a funny story behind it for those who know me.  So they asked us to come up in church and introduce ourselves and then they wanted us to sing a song for them.  Now, for those of you who know, I can't sing at all...not even a little.  Seth saved the day and sang Jesus Loves Me and many of the kids were able to join in!

Here are pictures of Nelson (the oldest) and Moses with Newton, all of the kids here are amazing and so sweet!

Thanks to all who are following.  We are having an amazing time!  I have a video to post (as soon as we get internet again!) ...God bless!

First day at Kinangop, Kenya

Jambo!!  Sorry it took two days to post this video, even though it has been done for a while.  The rainy season has come (early they say) and the internet connection is not very stable.  Unfortunately, the video is not as good quality as the pervious ones due to the slow connection (we have to make it on the smallest file possible).  I have another one day that should be up tomorrow morning (while you sleep).  Things are going great here...I will be back in Nairobi on Friday for the third grade 8:30 Skype call by the way... :)

Day 1 at the Mayfield House in Nairobi

Our first night we stayed at the Mayfield House in Nairobi, Kenya.  The weather was beautiful and our contact, Christine, is wonderful.  We will be traveling out to Into Abbas Arms this afternoon after I complete a SKYPE session with my class.  Here is the latest vlog:
